#MyLittleBigThing

Education & Training

Our objective is to enhance the adoption of SDGs in university learning through advocacy for the adoption of SDGs and Sustainability in university education policy as well as through our online learning platform and partnership with the Cambridge University Institute of Sustainability Leadership in South Africa.

Advocacy for Education policy

#MyLittleBigThing wants to influence universities in Africa to embrace Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.  We have started working with the Directorate of Careers and Mentorship programming of Kenyatta University.  The objective of the partnership is to make the university a sustainable institution and become a university of choice for sustainability training in Africa. In addition, we aim to increase our partnerships to include 10 other universities in the next 12 months.

Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership (CISL) programs

The Cambridge Institute of Sustainability in South Africa offers #MyLittleBigThing scholarships for challenge winners to attend their Sustainability Essentials for Business program.  They also, through their alumni, offer mentorship to the Challenge finalists who are looking to start and grow sustainable business enterprises

Online training Platform/#MyLittleBigThing Academy

The learning platform offers an opportunity to university students and other youth to get information and training on Sustainability and Sustainable Development Goals.  The students are coached on how to effectively participate in the annual #MyLittleBigThing SDGs Innovation Challenge.  Another training is offered for groups and individuals seeking to understand concepts of sustainability and ESG reporting requirements.  Institutions such as YALI and UNDP will be expected to partner with #MyLittleBigThing in conducting the training through online platforms and face-to-face training.  It is expected that the training will be a source of revenue streams.

SDGs Clubs

#MyLittleBigThing encourages its ambassadors to form SDGs clubs at their universities.  The clubs offer opportunities for sustainability programming among university students. The 47 Universities in Kenya are expected to form student SDG clubs.  We currently have ambassadors from the following universities: Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenyatta University, Maseno University, Moi University, Pan African University, Strathmore University, Technical University of Kenya, and Zetech University. Through connectivity support, students are encouraged to discuss pertinent and localized sustainability issues, championed by ambassadors at their universities.
