#MyLittleBigThing 2020 Awards Ceremony

The #MyLittleBigThing 2020 awards ceremony in partnership with Safaricom took place on 24th September 2020. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the event was re-engineered to accommodate a lot more online engagement. It took place on zoom from 9.00-1.00 am EAT and was also live on the #MyLittleBigThing Facebook page.

The Keynote speaker was Mr. Steve Chege, the Chief Corporate Officer at Safaricom. 15 contestants were given an opportunity to impress the 9 judges with their project ideas after successfully going through the community immersion phase and holding webinars with members of the community that helped them see the viability.

The master of ceremony was Mr. Larry Asego who made sure the event ran smoothly and interaction was felt. Participants took part in online games and fun interactive sessions on the SDGs. After the presentations, the judges finished their scoring and the scores were audited by PKF East Africa.

The Chief Judge, Austin Nyawara made his remarks regarding the competition and Steve Chege announced the winning projects.  The winning project was Ecotopia Pavers by Sharon Onyango from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. The 1st runners up were Beads and Threads by Derrick Bundi of Kabarak University and the 2nd runners up were Prepaid water meter by Brian Ombati of the Technical University of Kenya.
